Heron Preston’s Fall 2017 Menswear collection is a vivid exploration of streetwear’s evolving landscape, blending urban aesthetics with high-fashion sensibilities. This collection, presented in the heart of Paris, is a testament to Preston’s ability to redefine the boundaries of contemporary menswear.
The collection’s title, “For You, The World,” resonates deeply with the global influences evident in each piece. From the Cyrillic inscriptions on turtlenecks to the neon airbrushing on the backs of tops, there’s a clear nod to diverse cultures and street art. The use of the blue heron embroidery, a clever play on the designer’s name, adds a touch of whimsy and personalization.
One cannot overlook the meticulous attention to detail, from the padded blue bomber jacket adorned with the blue heron embroidery to the Duck Dynasty-inspired foliage hoodie. The utilitarian pants with airflow zips and belts with ripcords further emphasize the collection’s functional yet fashionable ethos.
However, it’s the juxtaposition of materials and textures that truly sets this collection apart. The translucent fabrics adorned with jeweled appliques, combined with the robustness of the utilitarian designs, create a harmonious blend of softness and strength. The grassroots collaboration with New York City’s Department of Sanitation from the previous season finds its echo in this collection, with T-shirts and reflective-material bags making a reappearance, albeit with a more refined touch.
